4 ways to keep employees healthy

Employees are the most important part of the company. They are the core of the organisation. But how do you ensure that these people stay healthy? Both physically and mentally?

 

 

After all: "A company is only as healthy as the people who work there."
If a person is healthy, it means that they are free from disease. This is a rather general description, which does not yet cover the whole picture. I think the most important thing of all is that a person feels good. If an employee feels good deep inside, he/she will work more efficiently, stay longer and contribute a lot to the company. So it is one of the best investments you can make as a company.

 

 

 

But what can you do as a manager to ensure that the people in your team have optimum health? Here are 4 ways to keep employees healthy.

 

Show your sincere appreciation

There is nothing like working in a place where you feel appreciated. This does not always have to be expressed in bonuses or salary increases. It can also have to do with the language used towards each other. Or with being genuinely interested in the life of a colleague. Even sending a card can contribute to the appreciation a person feels. Any form of appreciation, small or large, contributes to a good mental health of employees. 

Healthy diet

Don't make things unnecessarily difficult for people by handing out cakes, ordering pizza or putting away a soda machine. Want to do something to improve the health of the team? Then why not provide some nice fruit bowls and a daily healthy lunch? Or provide tasty carafes of infusion water or loose tea for the workplace. People take what is available, and if this is just healthy food, then you are one step further in keeping employees healthy.

Furnish the workplace with love

People are not made to sit all day. It is therefore a good idea to provide sit/stand desks so that everyone gets enough exercise. It has also been shown that daylight improves people's mental health. Another thing to take into account. Another thing that can help is to furnish the workplace with lots of greenery. The right plants provide oxygen and give you a sense of calm. That's ideal!

 

Provide the opportunity for sport

Exercise is essential for good physical and mental health. If you want your team to perform optimally, sports can contribute to that. There are plenty of possibilities. Think of hiring a sports instructor for a weekly training session on location. Or the (partial) reimbursement of a sports subscription for employees. There are also companies that start the day once a week with a session of office yoga. How nice is that?
